Kurt Geihs is professor of Computer Science in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at the University of Kassel in Germany. His research and teaching interests include distributed systems, operating systems, networks, and software technology. Current research projects focus on self-adaptive distributed systems, QoS management in middleware, service management in service-oriented architectures, and autonomous soccer robots. He has published more than 100 refereed articles and is author / co-author / editor of several books. He was a visiting researcher and guest lecturer at IBM Research (USA), Microsoft Research (England), and University of Pretoria (South Africa). In 2004 he received the Alexander von Humboldt South African Research Award. He regularly acts as consultant and reviewer for the EC and other institutions. Before joining the University of Kassel he was professor at TU Berlin and University of Frankfurt, and a researcher at the IBM European Networking Center in Heidelberg. He holds a PhD in computer science from the Aachen University of Technology, a M.Sc. in Computer Science from UCLA and a Diplom-Informatiker degree from TU Darmstadt.
